Y Côr
The Choir
The choir is based in the town of Corwen, Denbighshire, North Wales and rehearse every Wednesday evening at 8.00 in the local hall, Neuadd Edeyrnion. Members are drawn from Corwen and the surrounding districts with a strong contingent from the Bala area.
The choir follows the Welsh Male Voice choir tradition and is proud of the reputation it has gained of producing " that good sound", so often associated with the Welsh male choirs. Rehearsals are bilingual and offer a wonderful opportunity for those who are learning Welsh or are thinking of doing so, to exercise their language skills through singing and also enjoy the strong comradeship that exists in this choir.
The choir has a varied repertoire ranging from the traditional to modern pieces in both Welsh and English with a smattering of Italian, Latin, Maori and an African dialect thrown in to keep the boys "on their toes".
They are always looking to recruit new members, we have a base of some 32 members at present and are currently busy with our 2018/19 programme.
Mae'r côr wedi ei leoli yn nhref Corwen, Sir Ddinbych, ac yn ymarfer bob nos Fercher am 8.00 yn Neuadd Edeyrnion. Mae'r aelodau'n dod o Gorwen a'r ardaloedd cyfagos gyda mintai gref o ardal y Bala.
Mae'r côr yn dilyn y traddodiad Côr Meibion Cymreig ac yn falch o'r enw da mae wedi ennill o gynhyrchu "y sain da", a gysylltir yn aml gyda chorau meibion Cymreig. Cynhelir yr ymarferion yn ddwyieithog a hynny yn cynnig cyfle gwych ar gyfer y rhai sy'n dysgu Cymraeg neu'n ystyried gwneud hynny, i ymarfer eu sgiliau iaith trwy ganu ac hefyd i fwynhau'r frawdoliaeth gref sy'n bodoli yn y côr hwn.
Mae repertoire y côr yn amrywiol ac yn cynnig cerddoriaeth sy'n cynnwys darnau traddodiadol a modern yn y Gymraeg a'r Saesneg gyda blas o Eidaleg, Lladin, Maori a thafodiaith Affricanaidd wedi ei daflu mewn i gadw'r bechgyn "ar flaenau eu traed".
Maent bob amser yn awyddus i recriwtio aelodau newydd, mae gennym sylfaen o ryw 32 o aelodau ar hyn o bryd ac yn brysur gyda'n rhaglen 2018 -2019.
